Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], September 23 (ANI): Union Minister and National President of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) said on Monday that the party will be deciding soon whether they want to contest elections with an alliance or independently.
Speaking after landing at Ranchi airport earlier today, Cirag Paswan said that the party has been working to strengthen its organisational capacity and will be organising various events for the upcoming elections in Jharkhand.
“Soon enough there will be elections in Jharkhand, and the party has been working to strengthen itself. During the party meet, we will be deciding whether we will contest the elections independently or with a partner. Being the national president, I would say that wherever the party is strong and wherever the party wants to organise events, keeping that in mind we would be organising a lot of events in Jharkhand,” he said.
Highlighting the various events of the party planned in the coming days, he said, “Today there is a party event, we have an event in Palamu, on 29th we will be coming here again, then in Dhanbad there will be an event, on 6th there will be an event in Jamshedpur too. So with these events the party will also decide which direction the party wants to go to.”
Ahead of the Jharkhand elections later expected to be held later this year, Bhartiya Janata Party’s election in-charge in the State, Shivraj Singh Chauhan on Saturday said that the party has begun its procedure to select candidates for the polls.
Union Minister Chauhan exuded confidence about the party’s preparation and criticised the in-power alliance of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Congress.
According to the statement, JPCC former President Rajesh Thakur, and party leaders Amba Prasad and Dhiraj Prasad Sahu, among others, have been appointed members of the Election Committee.
Additionally, Congress President approved the proposal of the formation of the Pradesh Election Committee, Campaign Committee, and Manifesto Committee of the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee, according to an official statement.
“Congress President has approved the proposal of the formation of Pradesh Election Committee, Campaign Committee, and Manifesto Committee of the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee, as enclosed, with immediate effect,” the statement said.
“We have begun our proceedings to elect candidates, for the first phase, we have taken the advice of our party members. In the first week of October, we will hold an election committee meeting and then we will make decisions,” Chauhan said.
Jharkhand is set to witness an election to the 81-member legislative assembly later this year as the current government’s tenure ends in 2024. The Election Commission of India (ECI) is yet to announce the dates. (ANI)
