Tezpur (Assam) [India], October 26 (ANI): The historic Vayu Veer Vijeta car rally commemorating the 92nd anniversary of the Indian Air Force and 25 years of India’s victory in the 1999 Kargil conflict, arrived at AF Station Tezpur on 25 October.
This iconic IAF-UWM car rally is being organized from Thoise in Ladakh to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh and is covering 7,000 km.
The team was received by Group Captain VK Gupta, Station Commander Air Force Station Tezpur, and the personnel of this station.
The car rally had earlier arrived at the Gateway to the East, Guahati on 23 October.
With the primary objective of motivating the youth of the country to join the armed forces, the rally team visited Gauhati University on 24 October and Tezpur University on 25 October.
The team was warmly welcomed and felicitated at both the universities by the faculty and students. The students had an enriching interaction with the rally team.
The rally participants comprise Air Warriors, Army Officers, and Air Veterans.
Amongst the Air Veterans Retired Group Captain RC Tripathi VM, an ex-Para Jump Instructor holds the unique distinction of summiting Mount Everest and performing a skydive at Gorakshep (17500 ft) near Everest base camp in Nepal. He is also the first IAF personnel to climb all the highest peaks of each continent, known as Seven Summits.
Another retired Officer, Group Captain MK Sharma also is a keen adventurist who has participated in car and bike rallies during his service career.
The team, earlier in the morning, was flagged off from Air Force Station Borjhar by Air Commodore SS Prabhune, Air Officer Commanding.
