New Delhi [India], June 22 (ANI): Following TMC leader Kunal Ghosh’s allegations that the Congress party is “supporting” BJP in West Bengal, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj has cautioned the Congress party that it needs to draw a “Lakshman Rekha” and avoid attacking its own allies.
The Aam Aadmi Party leader said that if Congress keeps attacking its INDIA bloc partners, it will weaken the alliance.
“By keeping in mind, the alliance, Congress needs to think. If they keep talking against their own allies then it will weaken the entire INDIA alliance. How can we have one opinion on political issues? How will we take on central govt inside the Parliament? Congress should draw a ‘Laxman Rekha’, especially in those states, where Congress is against the parties who are part of the INDIA alliance,” Bhardwaj told ANI.
This comes after TMC leader Kunal Ghosh attacked the Congress party accusing them of “disturbing” TMC in West Bengal and said the party has no organisation in the state.
Ghosh lashed out at Congress and said that the party is in a terrible situation in West Bengal.
“Congress is in a terrible situation in Bengal. First, Congress has no organisation. Second, in Delhi, the Congress is playing the anti-BJP role but in Bengal, they are disturbing TMC and supporting the BJP. The people of Bengal have rejected this. Third, Congress being in alliance with the CPI (M),” he said.
Notably, this was not the only incident showing friction within the INDIA bloc parties.
Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party leader Gopal Rai confirmed that the party will contest the Delhi Assembly elections on its own and not in alliance with Congress. He noted that the two parties had come together only for Lok Sabha polls.
“This is clear from the very first day that the INDIA alliance was formed for Lok Sabha elections. As far as Vidhan Sabha is concerned, no alliance has been formed. AAP will fight elections with its full strength,” Rai, who is Environment Minister in Delhi government, told ANI.
AAP and Congress fought Lok Sabha polls together. While AAP contested four of seven seats, Congress had fielded three candidates.
However, the two parties drew a blank in the Lok Sabha polls in the national capital with BJP winning all the seven Lok Sabha seats. (ANI)
