Patna (Bihar) [India], October 22 (ANI): Congress MP Tariq Anwar on Tuesday questioned Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s developmental claims, after Kumar stated that his government has been continuously engaged in development work for the past 20 years.
Speaking to ANI, Anwar questioned the basis on which Kumar is asking for votes, given that Bihar ranks lowest in per capita income, health, and education.
“He should list out his achievements over the past 20 years… Corruption is at an all-time high, Bihar ranks the lowest in terms of per capita income, and we are the lowest in terms of health and education. So, on what basis are you asking for votes?” said Anwar.
Additionally, the Congress MP also questioned the language used by the Bihar CM in his speech, as the latter had earlier spoken about the state’s condition before the Nitish Kumar-led government took office.
“I am surprised that such an experienced man is using such language. He is attempting to remind people of 20-year-old matters,” said Anwar.
Meanwhile, in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stated that his government has been consistently involved in development work for the past 20 years. During his speech, he reflected on the state of Bihar two decades ago, claiming that there was significant conflict before his administration took charge. He asserted that his government has worked for the benefit of all citizens.
“Our government has been engaged in development work for 20 years continuously, but remember the condition of the government before us. People did not go out of their homes after evening… There was so much conflict in the society… The condition of education was also the same… There were very few roads and electricity was available in very few houses… But when we got the opportunity, we worked for everyone… Now there is no atmosphere of any kind of fear or intimidation. There is an atmosphere of love, brotherhood and peace in the state…” said Kumar.
Ahead of the Bihar elections, Independent MP Papu Yadav from Purnea expressed confidence that backward communities, as well as SC and ST voters, will support the INDI Alliance in the upcoming state elections.
Speaking to ANI, Yadav added that the public is eager to vote for the INDI alliance, as they want to see a new government, and that the INDI alliance has the “biggest ideological leader”, Rahul Gandhi.
“The public is eager to vote for the INDI alliance… They want to form a new government… We have the biggest ideological leader, Rahul Gandhi; we will fight the elections under his leadership… When we fight the elections under his leadership, the people of the backward community, SC, and ST will vote for us… Elections should not be fought on any CM face; this will not be good for the INDI alliance… You can make anyone the Chief Minister after the elections, but before the elections, the face should be Rahul Gandhi…” Yadav told ANI.
