Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 27 (ANI): Several hotels in Lucknow on Sunday received bomb threats, following which Dog and Bomb Disposal Squads conducted searches but no suspicious item was found, police said.
Ramesh Chandra Pandey, Sub Inspector Gautampalli police station said that the threats were received through emails, and looks like an attempt to induce fear.
“The situation is normal, certain threat emails were received, based on which Bomb Disposal Squad was called, and hotels were checked. No suspicious item was found…Bomb Disposal Squad checked around 5-6 hotels. It looks like an attempt to induce fear,” Sub Inspector Gautampalli said.
Earlier today, Ayodhya’s Maharishi Valmiki International Airport was the scene of heightened security following a bomb threat on a flight arriving from Bengaluru.
The aircraft, operated by Akasa Airlines, was carrying 173 passengers and landed safely amid urgent safety protocols.
Maharishi Valmiki Airport Director Vinod Kumar confirmed that all checks have been completed and nothing suspicious was found.
“There was a bomb threat call concerning the Akasa flight from Bengaluru to Ayodhya. The checks have been conducted successfully, and it appears the call was a hoax. There were 173 passengers on board,” he said.
Clarifying the recent hoax bomb threat on an Ayodhya-bound flight from Bengaluru, Akasa Airline reported that 15 of its flights received security alerts, prompting a swift response from the airline’s Emergency Response Team.
An Akasa Air spokesperson on Sunday stated, “The Akasa Air Emergency Response Team was immediately activated, initiating standard operating procedures, including informing regulatory authorities and monitoring the situation in real-time.”
The spokesperson emphasised that captains and crew members of the affected flights adhered to emergency protocols in collaboration with local authorities.
“The Airport Services teams at all impacted airports coordinated with local authorities to ensure efficient handling of the situation, including the safe deplaning of passengers and providing assistance and refreshments as required,” they added.
After thorough inspections and adherence to defined procedures, the spokesperson confirmed that all aircraft have been cleared for operations. The airline reassured passengers that their safety remains a top priority. (ANI)
